Johnny Depp Joins 'Pirates 4' Cast in Cannes

Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival in the South of France, Johnny Depp joined Penelope Cruz to talk up the premiere of his 3-D sequel 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,' the fourth in the smash hit Disney series.

Depp, 47, said his Captain Jack character is back by popular demand, and he's happy to oblige.

"If the people get tired of it or something, that's when it stops, I think," he told a press conference. "If people want it, I'm there."

Returning to the 'Pirates' family to play Captain Jack's father is Rolling Stones star Keith Richards.

Cruz, new to the franchise, was pregnant on set while playing Blackbeard's beguiling daughter Angelica, a foil to Captain Jack who nevertheless shares his desire to find the Fountain of Youth.

Meanwhile, according to Reuters, the 37-year-old actress told the Cannes crowd she's not fixated on youth: "I think birthdays are always something to celebrate," she said. "I'm looking forward to every step of the way. Maybe because I'm from Spain, that's looked at in a different way there than, for example, in a place like Los Angeles."
