Good things come in pairs, it's said. And for actress-singer Renee Elise Goldsberry, known for "One Life to Live" and the musical version of "The Color Purple," that's doubly true these days.

Besides playing a savvy lawyer on "The Good Wife," she co-stars with Frances McDormand and Tate Donovan in the new Broadway drama "Good People," running through May 8.

Goldsberry, 40, plays an affluent Boston University lit professor, wife and mom. Offstage, she and her husband and almost-2-year-old son live in Harlem.

On "Good People": "So many things appealed to me about the play. I think it's a play about class, not about race. One of the questions it raises is about who's had opportunities, who's been lucky. David Lindsay-Abaire, the writer, defies expectations with his story."

On "Good Wife": "I am a huge fan of the show, outside of being on it. I've found that the star of a show sets the tone, and Julianna Margulies is a superwoman. She has a young child, too, and it's a juggle. She's always prepared, always in a lovely mood."

On home: "One thing I love about living in Harlem is that I'm not too far from the Theater District. Another thing is Bier, a beergarden. What I love more than anything is the sense of space and home I have there."
