The book is entitled "The Ballad of the Hopeless Romantic" and it is part one of a 4 part series which deals with growing up in a small town, and finding love in the most unlikely of places. Below is a synopsis:

Because although the pain is unrelenting it seems, through the darkness, he isn't alone. In times of despair, there's always someone who reaches through those heart wrenching moments, and saves us. And for Charlie, that person has always been Katie Baker; his best friend since the age of four.
