Lindsay Lohan: Take Me to Trial Town!

Lindsay Lohan may be courting new minidress designers right this minute.

The actress's lawyer informed the Los Angeles' District Attorney's Office today that Lohan will not be in court on Friday to accept a plea deal in her theft case that would have mandated she serve up to six months in county jail.

So, what's next?

MORE: Another Lohan arrest, just as Lindsay heads back to L.A.

As the world turns, Lohan is now due back in court on April 22 for a preliminary hearing, during which a judge will decide whether prosecutors have a trial-worthy case and whether Lohan violated her DUI probation by getting herself into this mess.

"Ms. Lohan has maintained her innocence from the moment this case was filed and she has never wavered," her attorney, Shawn Holley, said in a statement to E! News. "Though many advised her to follow the safe route by taking 'the deal', the truth is, Ms. Lohan is innocent; she has a strong defense; and we are confident that a jury will listen to the evidence fairly and acquit her."

L.A. Superior Court Kenneth Schwartz, who told Lohan that pleading no contest would involve at least some jail time, will be passing the reins to another judge for the pretrial proceedings.

The 23-year-old is charged with one count of felony theft for allegedly lifting a $2,500 from a Venice, Calif., jewelry shop. She is currently free on $40,000 bail, $20,000 for the theft and another $20,000 for the possible violation.
